bird species identification? : Backyard Birding Guide

bird species identification?

I live in upstate new york and was wondering what species of bird I’ve been seeing lately. It’s a rich black with a bright red diamond kinda shape on each side. Anyone know what it is?

sounds like a red wing black bird. Common in the Northeast.
