feather pattern, size, calls, location,
, things u cant tell from just looking 
……. wait…..is the bird dead and your diesecting it? T_T….because if you are….send me a messenge cause i got a whole nother list for that kind of identification
Color and size are the two characteristics on the top of the list. Special color markings are helpful for telling species apart.
