When I got home from work to day I was reading my e-mails, I had received one from the AKC. It is kind of like the magazine offering different stories and articles for you to read. One of the articles jumped out at me It was ARE YOU PREPARED, its about what to do if you need to evacuate and what you should have in your pets first aid kit. Well it has been awhile since I needed to use mine so I dug it out. I definitely need to stock up on a few things and replace some stuff. Now the article also provided a list here is the site:
http://www.akc.org/pdfs/news/are_you_prepared.pdf
My first aid kit is very basic I would like those of you who have first aid kits to please review this list and let me know if you would add anything to it especial if you have a substitute that might cost a little less but work just as good or if you have something in yours that you think is better. Also If you have any other sites like this one could you please share thanks in advance.
I am putting this in other pets because I have several kinds(cats, birds, dogs, and horses) and I use the kit for all my animals.

What kind of animal did this? A bird? It was a half eaten bunny, and her fetus, it was quite disgusting, half her body was missing. Do animals not eat the whole animal when catching it?
We don’t have cats running wild here, and yes it was a sad and disgusting sight! But do predator animals not eat the fetus ?!? I am confused

I love animals and I dont want to hurt this cat, heck I put up the bird feeder for my cats to watch birds, they love it. But……this big old grey cat hunts it, he took a little red finch out the other day. I saw it, just disgusted me! I don’t want to ‘bait’ the birds but I love having my bird feeder…help! How can I get rid of this cat without hurting him?
Just so you know I am not baiting the birds. Also, the feeder is on a wooden pole cemented into the ground and stands just about 5 feet tall.

Bird Feeders?

Last summer we had a bird feeder in the front tree. Lots of birds fed from it. Unfortunately cats hid in the bushes and ambushed the doves feeding on the ground. Now we have a tall standing feeder in our fenced backyard, but the doves still hang around in the front. Is there a special feeder doves will sit in, instead of being on the ground?

Which Type of Window Bird Feeders Is for You?
March 23, 2009 by admin
There are two types of window bird feeders that you can choose from. One type will attach to the window allowing you a close view of the birds feeding but still offer the thin piece of glass as a partition between you and the birds. The other type could be referred to as a window sill bird feeder since it is made to sit on the window sill. This sometimes requires an open window and also can mean that you risk the birds flying into your house, a child trying to touch them or a pet reacting to prey sitting at their window. These ones need you to be more careful, and perhaps imaginative, in the management of this type of feeder. Still they are an experience worth considering.
If this bird feeder that you chose to attach to your window is going to be on the outside then you will need a method of attachment. Many of the people who have this kind of feeder use suction cups to hold them to the windows. You simply suction them on to the window at a good height to protect he birds from cats while still being able to see them sitting at your window. Window bird feeders are a wonderful tool for teaching your children about the beauty of wildlife. They are able to watch the birds feed without any distraction to the birds. The birds will get used to seeing people as they feed. So, as long as there are no sudden movements you and your family will be able to enjoy hours of bird watching from the comfort of your kitchen table or living room couch.
The other type of window bird feeders, the ones that sit on the window sill, are kept in place by different means. The best kinds are made to sit on the windowsill but still manage to keep the window closed. This can be done because they have sides that can be adjusted to fill the open window area. The window is closed on top of the feeder with the side pieces extended. In that way the feeder is right on the windowsill but the birds cannot get into the house or be bothered by curious little fingers. If you choose to use a feeder that sits on the windowsill it is best to consider this type. Any type of bird feeder that is going to be that close to your window will need to be used with the bird’s safety in mind more than other types. You need to keep your cats away and to teach younger children a healthy respect for the birds. They will need to understand that they must watch quietly and not bang on the windows just to see them fly.

I Found a baby bird, I think it’s a woodpecker. How can I take care of it?

Well today i walked outside to water my garden i looked down at the waterhose and found a baby bird. I think that one of my cats got a hold of it, because some of his tail feathers are broken and their are some bare patches of skin with no feathers on it. i put some peroxide on. And took of all the ants that where on it. He must be young because his eyes haven’t opened yet but he has more than just down feathers. What do i need to do to care for him until he can be released back into the wild. Such as food to feed him Ect.
