BIRD EMERGENCY! My father found a bird (not sure of age) on the ground, unable to fly…?
Category: Bird Emergency
I have NO idea what kind of bird he is.
I need to know what to feed him…and how.
How to give him water. Currently he has a bottom of a cup about 3 centimeters high with a little bit of water.
Also, I see no signs of injury, but he is unable to fly.
What should I do?
He seems so tired.
Pictures here taken about 5 minutes ago.
PLEASE HELP!!
P.S. I live in North Florida!

I just read that he might be considered a ‘fledgling’, but I am unable to return him to the area where he was found as there are A LOT of cats in that area. If he were to be returned, he would be killed.
To melissss..or whatever:
Are you serious? Did you even read anything I wrote? I obviously did not say I put the bird in a cup of water. You can’t even write correctly. I have raised several wild animals and they survived and were successfully returned to the outside world. If I had not done this they would have died. I was just not sure about this bird because of his age and situation. Did you NOT read the part about the cats in the area? You are clearly not qualified to answer any questions related to animals, and probably, for the sake of everyone else here, should not be answering any questions about anything. I hope you have learned your lesson and the next time you feel the need to give your input maybe you should leave it for your parents to attend to.

How do you say in Spanish – birdnest in bush, please do not come closer?
Category: Bird Emergency
Sparrows have built a nest near my front door (eggs now!) and it always makes mama fly away when I open the front door. So I have a sign in English “Stop – do not come closer! Birds nesting on the other side of this bush! Do not use front door unless it’s an emergency!”
So that’s really what I want the gardeners to know. They’ll be coming later today.
Thank you.
… smart aleck remarks help the birds a lot, thanks.

HELP asap real emergency?
Category: Bird Emergency
Okay, so I know this is supposed to be in the “pets” section, but nobody has answered my question:
I have some baby finches that were born today on my back porch. Their mom is there and everything, but I have two hunting dogs who have repeatedly killed baby birds who try and fly from their nests!
What can I do, and how long will it take for them to be able to fly?
yes, I know this is not fashion, but it’s important, and you get so many more answers and ideas here. again, thanks for all your answers!

Category: Feeding Backyard Birds
well 2 days ago i found a pigeon and it couldn’t fly so i tried to “scare” it home like i would scare it with my flip-flop it worked out then my freind’s grandpa came and showed me that it won’t bite and he picked it up he told me to try im all like ok lets try it so i did and it was unusually calm it squirmed but not as much as i thought it would…
i’ve been feeding it hamster food (taking out the sunflowers and wafer thingy i dont know what its called) and mixing in uncooked rice like its hard not cooked i will give it some wild bird food when i get a chance to go to the store…and anyways i dont know what to do now…ummm it seems that it cant fly but today it flew to the fence and was sittting on top of the fence i should be happy instead i was HORRIFIED what if it hopped to my neighbors backyard then what but instead of doing something dumb i snook up from behind and grabbed its tail thing or whatever it didn’t struggle instead it willingly let me grab it that happened three times…im not sure why its not a very good flier though it can fly NOW but when i got it it couldn’t but now it can but not that good…<<<<<

What do you do when a bird has broken leg? How do you help it?
Category: Bird Emergency
A small bird with yellow colored lips just flew in our house after a cat was chasing it. This is kind of an emergency, because it’s leg is broken!! Can anybody tell us how to help it?? Please? It has greyish feathers and it’s pretty small, but normal sized for it’s kind I guess.
On second thought I don’t think it’s leg is broken but it just won’t fly. My family thinks it’s exhausted because apparently all morning it’s been in the kitchen making noises, but no one knew where it was. So now it’s in a nice box with lots of grass and we gave it a waterdish. We also think it is still a little young because it’s feathers are still a little poofy just the slightest bit. However i think it just escaped from a cat so that may explain the poofiness. Maybe it’s still learning to fly well.
