Oklahoma Landscapes – feat. Fence Post, Grass, Wildflowers, Eastern Red Cedar, birds singing
Category: Identify Bird Calls
Take the time to just relax and slow down a little. How many birds can you hear? This video was shot on a country road near my home. I pulled into the entrance of an old oil well site and just pointed the camera out the window. It’s about taking to time to breathe a little deeper and slower and more thoughtfully. Can anyone help me identify the bird calls?
What to do about a bird nest on the grass with one egg?
A few minutes ago I found a nest with one little light blue egg in it. I am sure it was blown out of the tree last night in the storm. The tree is enormous and there is no way for me to get it back up. What should I do?
There is a bird in my backyard that isn’t flying just hanging out on the grass. what should i feed it?

I found some baby birds in my backyard. What should I feed them?
I tried grass but it didn’t work
They are just newborn and haven’t grow feathers yet.
And I got it off the chimney because they were blocking it.
No, I didn’t take them out of their nest, and I placed the nest near where I found them.

Does leaving bread on the ground for birds attract mice/rats?
Category: How to Attract Birds to Your Yard
I think we have mice in our loft and in some walls – I told my neighbour about the problem and suggested (in nice way) that they might think about not leaving bread out on their grass for the birds as it might attract them – they were not happy about it!! Now we have a fox roaming about.
Cheers dobby – I am the chair person of the association of our area and it was at a meeting that I mention it, and she has continued to feed the birds – I live across from these people and dont want to (overly) fall out with them.

Emergency! Found baby bird, his mother abandoned him. And I know this for a fact?
Category: Bird Emergency
I thought I had saved this bird yesterday, I thought he fell from his nest. I put him back in with gloves and he looked ok. Today I’ve been watching the nest. and I just visibly saw his mom take him in her mouth and fly him and leave him on the ground. He barely has any feathers and I feel very bad for him. She just didn’t want him for some reason! Please give me advice, he’s on the ground tumbling over the grass and everything. Should I at least bring him inside and try to help. What could I feed him? I know I wouldn’t be able to release him back if he turns out to be ok. Or maybe. But I just need some opinions, thanks!
Thank you all so much, I called a rehabilitation place and she gave me pretty much the same information. I’m keeping my eye on it out there and if they haven’t gotten it by the time it gets dark I will bring him inside. Though I don’t think he will live. Thanks so much, I hope it goes well!
BTW, he is NOT even close to be able to fly and can not find food on his own.
He’s taking food from me! yay!

How can I attract rare species of birds to my garden?
Category: How to Attract Birds to Your Yard
I was reading a book about birds and I was shocked about how many common garden birds can be found in a garden in SE England.
So how can I attract birds such as Goldcrests to my garden?
I have a feeder and my garden has a lot of grass and therefore worms and bugs. I don’t however, have a pond, and unfortunately I don’t think I can get one.
So what are some other ways?

Feeding injured bird?
Category: Feeding Backyard Birds
I found a small bird (yellow) in my backyard, and it must be injured somehow. It cannot walk or fly, it just kind of flutters around. Now, I love any animals, so I carefully took off my top layer shirt, and picked it up. I called a wildlife place, and they told me the earliest they can see to it is tomorrow MAYBE. They told me to feed it, and keep it well, and make sure it is in a box with grass, and water. I gave it water with a teaspoon, and that worked pretty well, but I don’t know what to feed it when it calms down more. Any ideas?
Also, I know it’s not a fledging, because I mistook it for a baby, but it’s an adult bird. Also, it IS injured, not learning to fly, because it’s wobbling, and cannot move around very well, and one wing is twisted around. I really want to help it, and if I thought he/she were a fledging, I would have never touched it in the first place.

How can I attract birds to my bird feeders?
Category: How to Attract Birds to Your Yard
We live in the midwest and I’ve hung out 6 bird feeders, we’re offering niger seed, sunflower seed, mixed seed, suet…I also have a heated dish with water. All we get is squirrels which I don’t want. My neighbors just dump a 25 pound bag of seed on their grass and the birds go over there but they don’t come to my feeders…even when the neighbors seed is used up. I also put out bread crumbs and bits of strawberries hoping some birds that like fruit would stop by. I’ve taken down a flag thinking may be it was scaring them. Any ideas?

How do I care for an injured baby bird?
Category: Feeding Backyard Birds
I found a baby bird in my backyard a few hours ago. He has a few wounds, and they are seeping a little bit of puss. He was covered in flies, they would not leave him alone, almost as if he was dying. There was no nest around, and I could not leave him there because the flies were literally taking over his entire body. I have him in a box in my garage with some grass. I am feeding him baby cereal, which he is eating quite well. I know this probably isn’t the right thing to feed him, but I don’t know what else to do. I believe he is dying. Not sure if I can save him, but would love to if at all possible. Any ideas??
