What is the best Field Guide for trees and birds?

I have a friend who is a fish and wildlife major. She is really into birds (owls) and trees and I thought a field guild would be a good gift idea.

Do you have any recommendations on which field guide I should get?

Wild Bird feeder question?

I put out 2 wild bird feeders, same food in both. The birds are flocking to the one feeder in the front yard, but are ignoring the one in the back yard. They are both placed close to trees and are the kind that hang on a pole. Any ideas why? I have another feeder in the backyard and the birds eat from it, as do the squirrels.

How can i attract birds to nest in our area?

I`ve tried putting seed out, but they never make a nest anywhere. We have some small trees in the front, which NO bird dares to nest in for some strange reason. It seems as if we are cursed or something.

We do have a cat and two dogs.

How to attract birds into my garden?

Hello,

I recently purchased a bird table, bird feeder, peanut feeder and fat ball feeder and have put them in my garden. The bird table is in a shady area with a mixed bird seed on it, and the bird feeder (also with seeds), peanut feeder and fat ball feeder are hanging up, however no birds have come to the garden.
There are lots of birds around, i can hear them and can see them in the trees surrounding my home, but they do not seem to be eating the food, or even coming into my garden!
Does anyone have any ideas to attract the birds or explanations as to why they are not coming?

Attracting wild birds to garden?

Hi. Ive recently moved house and have a small yard, no grass out back. I have put up a bird table and a high line with bird feeders hanging off, along with fat balls,sunflower seeds etc, but the birds are just not coming. i know they are in the near area as a couple of doors down they have a few trees and I can see them in there, so why won’t they come over to my feeders?? Does anyone have any more ideas on what i can do to attract them over??
