It keeps trying to fly up, but keeps hitting the glass, how do we get the bird to come down and fly out through the front door or something?

leave a window open on the opposite side of the room -the sound of birdsong from outside will entice it down to the open window. Best to stand as far away as possible and be real quiet, then it will look around more.
